- Many thanks to those people who donated their time and
talents to prepare VBS decorations: Jenna Reeves -
our mural artist, Ashley Alexander, Shari, Derek, and Austin
Sobek, Leslee Reeves, Sandi Haltom, Jessie Thomas, David
Miller, Bill Parr, Spencer Cherry, Diane Haist, and Jim
Davis.
- Today, the Nor'kirk Bible Study will finish the
Book of Hosea. Join us as we study his prophetic words
during the last years of the nation of Israel before the
Assyrian invasion. All are welcome to join us in the Red
Sea Room in Price Hall for our weekly Bible discussion and
presentation.
- “Being Christian” ~ Please plan on joining us each
Sunday at 9:30 am in the last room on the right of the CE
Wing for our newest adult Sunday School class. “Being
Christian” takes the fundamentals of our faith and provides
the opportunity to discuss the Bible, our faith and our
history. Please contact Tim McNutt at 214-215-4065 or
tim.mcnutt@brightco.com if you have questions or need
any additional information.
- Do you crave an oasis in the midst of the hustle-bustle
and the chaos that life can present? Do you have an itch
for something more, perhaps a longing to make that “personal
relationship with Christ” real and tangible? The Sunday
Morning Small Group may be just the tonic you seek!
This Group is founded on the principle that, by developing
and expanding a deep, rich personal connection among our
members, we can come to understand more fully our
relationship with Christ and Christ’s relationship with us.
And, each Sunday, we lift each other up and explore applying
the message of the Bible to our everyday lives. You are
invited!! Come fill the empty chair that awaits just
you each Sunday morning, during Sunday School Hour, in Price
Hall!
- The Summer Sunday School season is underway. We
offer Sunday school for all ages throughout the months
of July and August, promoting all of our children and youth
to the next grade or level in early September. Adult
classes also continue through the summer. Children who
completed grades K-4 will meet in the ARKK classroom in
Price Hall each Sunday; 5th through 7th
graders will meet in the Banner room in the Main Building;
and youth 8th-12th grade meet in the
High School Classroom in Price Hall. Sunday school meets
each week from 9:40 – 10:30 a.m. Try it out!
- Children’s Church will not be held during the
summer. Children’s Church will resume after Round-Up Sunday
in September.
- The Nor’kirk summer softball season is in full
swing! All games are played on Field #4 at the McInnish
Sports Complex on Sandy Lake Rd. Our next games will be
tonight at 7 & 8 p.m. Come out
and support the team!
- Our high school group, Shindig, will not meet in
July and August. We will notify you of upcoming youth
events.
- Hospice Work Date: We need volunteers on
Monday, July 26th, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
to help assemble Adult Bibs, Hand Rolls and Rice Packs for
Odyssey Hospice. Sewing machines are welcome, but we can
use anyone who is willing to cut, stuff, tie and assemble.
Come all day (and we will get pizza) or part of the time.
This is a great project for teens who need service hours.
See you in the Banner Room! Contact Lynne Hine 972-492-8620
with any questions.
- The Nor’kirk Book Club is doing something
different this July. We’re individually reading a book that
interests us and will say a few words about it at our July
get together. We’re meeting again at Nico’s (SW corner of
Josey and Frankford) on Tuesday, July 27. For more
information call Dru Banner at 972.492.7810.
- Save the date! Sunday, August 15th is
our next blood drive. Carter Blood Care will be at
The Nor’kirk from 8 a.m. to noon to replenish dwindling
blood supplies. High demand for blood and low donor numbers
create s true need in our community. We need you to roll up
your sleeve!
- The Ministry with Children committee would like to thank
Maria Moen for her service to The Nor’kirk as Nursery
Coordinator! She is relocating to another state and we need
to find another volunteer to fill this position.
Responsibilities include purchasing supplies and snacks as
needed, scheduling teen volunteers, and being the liaison
between our paid nursery staff and the Ministry with
Children. Having a child in the nursery is NOT a
requirement! If this is something that you might be
interested in, please contact Anne Thomas at
thomasrickanne@verizon.net or 972-939-1531.
- Preschool registration
continues for our Fall 2010-Spring 2011 school year. We are
excited to continue to offer our quality early childhood
program for 1-5 year olds. Call or email Diane Haist at the
preschool: 972-305-3707 or
dianeh@thenorkirk.org.
- Outreach and Evangelism needs your help! We are
trying to gather information regarding our members and the
groups or affiliations they might be involved in within our
community. The main goal is to use the Internet to spread
the word about The Nor'kirk's events. If you have a group
that you are a part of (singles group, sports team,
volunteer group etc), would you please let Kristina Robertson
know? Feel free to email her at
stranded_in_japan@hotmail.com with the group name and
she will make sure you receive an email of The Nor'kirk's
events that you can forward on to your friends. It's a
super easy way to help The Nor'kirk reach out into the
community!
- Become a fan of The Nor’kirk -- join us on our Facebook page (The Nor'Kirk Presbyterian
Church). Updates for
all events are posted weekly, as well as pictures from the
events. Invite your friends to be Nor'kirk fans as
well. Visitors to The Nor’kirk Facebook will see all the
fun and exciting things our little church can do!
- Did you know that The Nor’kirk has a small team of
people who provide meals for members of the church who are
in need? We are looking to expand this team and this is
your opportunity to help! For more information or to lend a
helping hand, please contact Tiffany Wylie at 972-418-0277
or
Tiffany.Wylie@tylertech.com.
- Great news! If you have wanted to become more involved
in church activities but have not been able to because of
lack of childcare, The Nor’kirk is offering a solution. If
you wish to attend ANY Nor’kirk activity but need
babysitting, please let Kim Ready know at least 3 days
prior to the event and she will contact one of our
well-qualified babysitters to watch your children at the
church. Additionally, if you would like to add your name to
the babysitter totem pole, please contact Kim at
972-395-3742 or
maestrokim@verizon.net.
Older Announcements:
- Would you like to hear the Mariachi to Mozart
concert again, or maybe for the first time? We recorded
it, and a CD is being produced. Let Ben Ewart
(972-317-4205) know if you would like a copy!
